Ceramic tile

Ceramic and Porcelain tile from your local Sears Floor Covering Centre is simple and easy to maintain. Simply follow our recommendations for its care and maintenance:

- Allow your Ceramic and/or Porcelain Tile and Grout to dry a minimum of 72 hours after its installation before cleaning so as not to disturb the adhesive or grout before it has adequately dried.

- Always use felt faced furniture protectors under furniture legs to help avoid micro scratches and premature wear.

- On a regular basis, twice a week, vacuum or sweep your floor to remove any loose dirt or dust.

- Damp mopped your floor once a week with clear water or a vinegar & water solution - you should never use an acid or ammonia based cleaner as they may alter the grout colour.

- A mild detergent soap may be used on Porcelain Tile but it is not appropriate to use it on Ceramic Tile as it can dull the surface and/or promote the growth of mildew.

- Do not use steel wool pads as loose steel particles can cause rust stains in the grout.

- It is recommended to place mats at heavy pivot points such as at the kitchen sink to avoid excessive wear. Do not use rubber or foam backed plastic mats as they could cause discoloration of the floor.

- We recommend the use of a commercial shower cleaner to keep your ceramic tile shower and/or bath backsplash clean; this will help to prevent bathroom dirt and soap scum from building up in your shower, leaving it feeling and smelling fresh and clean.
