Floor Coverings for the Hallway

A hallway should be as beautiful and special as the rest of the house. With carefully chosen elements you can create the visual thread that connects the entire home together; floor coverings are no exception. Usually, floor coverings should be the same or complimentary to the main rooms of your home in both texture and colour.

Clean lines and contrasting colours may speed your guest along the corridors. On the other hand, subtle colours and patterns to create eye catching visual highlights can encourage visitors to stop and look at pictures, photographs or other family mementos. Make a design statement that reinforces your personal tastes, by using colour, lighting, textures and patterns.

Tip:

A small area rug or runner, positioned on top of hardwood, ceramic or laminate flooring, can provide a visual focal statement to help ensure that a long hallway doesn't overwhelm or appear confining.
